The financial crisis which began in 2007 caused banks throughout the world, including the biggest banks in the USA, Switzerland and the European Union to go bankrupt. Governments provided massive amounts of money to bail them out.
The Mongolian economy was also hit by the crisis as the mining commodity prices fell, tourism decreased, the banking sector shrank, construction stopped and so on.
Anod Bank faced problems from external factors over which it had no control and also from honest mistakes by its management. Unfortunately, the Central Bank is treating Anod Bank, after 17 years of close monitoring, as if we have taken tens of billions MNT for private use and has put us in jail.
There are many other ways to settle the complaints of 1,200 small stake holders in a democratic society. The action against us reminds one of the political repression of the 1930s, 1960s and 1980s.
I have decided to go on a hunger strike to protest against this unfairness. May justice prosper. “
